6abc’s Mike Neilon Hired as Vice President for Media Relations at Bellevue Communications Group

PHILADELPHIA Bellevue Communications Group today announced that it has hired Mike Neilon, planning editor for “6abc Action News,” as Vice President of Media Relations effective January 30, 2017. In his new position with the firm, Neilon will be responsible for guiding the firm’s messaging efforts to produce newsworthy story placements throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.

“For two decades, Mike has been behind the scenes at one of the most successful local TV newsrooms in the nation,” said Bellevue President Kevin Feeley. “He is recognized as one of the top professionals in the TV news business, and we are delighted to have him join our team.”

Before joining Bellevue Communications Group, Neilon spent 20 years with local ABC affiliate WPVI-TV, serving first as a producer for “AM Philadelphia.” As planning editor for “6abc Action News,” he worked with producers, reporters, photographers, and news executives to arrange and execute all local news coverage. During his time, he secured interviews with then-presidential candidate Donald Trump, former President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, as well as exclusive coverage of the Democratic National Coverage and Pope Francis’ visit. Neilon also helped to spearhead 6abc’s extensive coverage of major news events in the region, including the Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State and Joe Paterno’s subsequent firing, the 2015 Amtrak train derailment in Philadelphia, and the Center City building collapse at 22nd and Market Streets.

“Bellevue’s work with Philadelphia media is unmatched,” said Neilon. “I look forward to being a part their growth and continued success.”

Neilon graduated from Ithaca College with a bachelor’s degree in Television and Radio Journalism. Prior to his work as a planning editor, Neilon was a news coordinator for the Montel Williams Talk Show in New York. He began his journalism career in radio by working at stations in upstate New York and New Hampshire.

Bellevue Communications Group also recently hired NBC10 producer Kareen Preble to the firm as an account executive. Preble, a graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Communications, served as a producer for KOAT-TV in Albuquerque, NM, and WKEF/WRGT-TV in Dayton, OH before joining NBC10.
