Chickie’s & Pete’s to Partner with City Year to Help More Philadelphia Students Graduate

Several events and initiatives are planned for the month of October to help raise funds and awareness of City Year’s work to keep Philadelphia public school students in school and on track to succeed

Philadelphia (October 6, 2014) –Chickie’s and Pete’s, the Philadelphia-area crab house and sports bar chain, today announced it is partnering with City Year Philadelphia for the month of October to help more students in the city stay in school and on track for graduation.  The announcement was made at a press conference attended by City Year leadership and representatives from Chickie’s and Pete’s at its South Philadelphia location. Throughout the month of October, Chickie’s and Pete’s will engage in several initiatives both online and at each of its 11 Philadelphia-area restaurants to help raise donations and impart the mission and spirit of City Year on guests.

Chickie’s and Pete’s is proud to support the communities in which they operate and cares deeply about the education of the city’s youth as well as the improvement of Philadelphia schools.  Supporting City Year Philadelphia’s essential work in the public school system is a no-brainer for the restaurant chain that has deep roots in Philadelphia dating back to 1977.

“As a lifelong Philadelphian and graduate of Northeast High School, this initiative is very close to my heart,” said Pete Ciarrocchi, CEO of Chickie’s and Pete’s.  “We all know Philadelphia public schools are in dire need of additional resources, and City Year’s dedicated corps members are doing amazing work to provide much needed support to schools of all types in Philadelphia.  We are proud to support this outstanding organization and provide better educational outcomes for our children.”
