Harvest Festival Returns to Reading Terminal Market, Saturday, October 12

Festival-goers will enjoy an urban farm atmosphere in the heart of Center City

PHILADELPHIA – Reading Terminal Market’s annual Harvest Festival will take place on Saturday, October 12th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival will take place outside the Market on Filbert Street which will be transformed into an urban farm giving those who can’t get out of town a chance to enjoy all that fall has to offer. Entertainment will be provided throughout the day by local bluegrass band, Special Delivery. Admission to the festival is free – food prices vary.

Closed to vehicular traffic for the day, Filbert Street will be filled with bales of hay and corn stalks, providing festival-goers with a near “country” experience. Visitors and shoppers alike are invited to climb aboard an authentic farm tractor for a hay ride around the Market, guess the weight of a gigantic pumpkin, play games and make arts & crafts for kids, and, of course, enjoy delicious seasonal foods.

The Market’s vendors will offer locally made, seasonal foods such as pumpkin ice cream sundaes, candy/caramel/chocolate-covered apples, butternut squash soup, autumn gumbo, ribs, bread pudding with raisins, apple cider, cotton candy and much more. Seasonal, local produce such as squash, apples and pumpkins will be readily available. There will also be locally-made crafts, jewelry, soaps, tablewear, embroidered goods and decorated pumpkins.  Read more coverage for the event by clicking the link below:
