Philadelphia OIC to host National Conference and 50th Anniversary Gala at Pennsylvania Convention Center

Reverend Al Sharpton to Deliver Keynote Address at 50th Anniversary Gala

PHILADELPHIA (UPDATED June 13, 2014) – Opportunities Industrialization Centers, Inc. (OIC) announced it will celebrate its 50th Anniversary during its National Conference taking place in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and the Philadelphia Marriott June 12-15, 2014. The conference will include a series of workshops on topics relating to education, labor, entrepreneurship, healthcare, social media and youth engagement, among others, as well as a job fair, health fair and prayer breakfast featuring five of the Philadelphia region’s leading Baptist ministers.

“As we prepare to mark this milestone in our organization’s history, we recognize the countless individuals who have been part of OIC’s mission and the importance of self-sufficiency to help spur economic development,” said Robert C. Nelson, President and CEO of Philadelphia OIC. “The conference, gala and prayer breakfast are the culmination of a rich, long history that started in Philadelphia and has evolved to more than 50 cities across the U.S. and in South Africa. Since its inception, OIC has served more than three million people worldwide and 90,000 in Philadelphia. We look forward to the continued growth of OIC in Philadelphia and throughout the country.”
