Ronald McDonald House Celebrates 30 Years in South Jersey

Executive Director and Teen Advisory Board Member Appear on Philadelphia Agenda to Highlight Accomplishments

PHILADELPHIA (February 2, 2014) – Teddy Thomas, Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey, and Ashley Monahan, a member of the Teen Advisory Council, appeared this past week on the Philadelphia Agenda with Brad Segall to discuss how the House helps families in need.

Since it was founded in 1983, the Ronald McDonald House of South Jersey has housed over 22,000 families, serving as a place for them to stay while their children receive medical treatment nearby. The House usually provides for twenty one families each night, providing them with a comfortable environment as opposed to a hotel.

When it was originally founded in 1983, it served as a place for parents to stay while their children received treatment at the nearby Cooper Hospital. Today, 70% of the families at the Ronald McDonald House stay there alongside their children, who are able to receive outpatient treatment since they are so close to the hospital.
