Russell Byers Charter School Holds 2015-2016 Admissions Lottery

Over 1,300 Applications for 23 Spots

March 11, 2015 (PHILADELPHIA) – Russell Byers Charter School (Byers) held its annual lottery to determine admission for the 2015-16 academic school year on Thursday, March 12 at noon.  For this coming year, 1,345 applications were submitted to fill 23 open Kindergarten spots.  This equates to a 1.7% admission rate for the highly diverse charter school, which serves grades K through six.  Several dozen parents gathered to learn whether their children gained admission to one of the highest performing charter elementary schools in the city.  For these parents, Byers stringent admission margins represent a sliver of hope that their children can attend a school with a proven track record of serving students from all backgrounds.
